There is a nice interactive display about the Aurora and several beautiful beadwork art displays. There is a cafe too, but it was closed when we visited.

This is a nice museum that does a good job of explaining the basics of the history of the Northwest Territories while centering the First Nations perspective. However, the history is definitely portrayed in a diplomatic manner, giving a nostalgic air to the past rather than framing things in a critical manner illuminating current social and political issues of northern Canada.

You definitely need to talk to locals if you want a full understanding of northern issues.

If you're looking for a 'quick' activity I would highly recommend coming to this museum. It was very informative of the history and traditions of NWT and supplied a lot of artifacts! It took me about an hour to walk around at my own pace - If there was one complaint it would be that it's too small and should expand! The staff were very friendly and helpful when I asked questions and the exhibits were lovely. Would come back again!

This is a wonderful museum. The staff a very friendly, and there's an atmosphere that reminds me of my childhood visits here. The exhibits are interesting and kid friendly. The restaurant located upstairs is the most underrated spots to eat in town. Definitely worth a visit!

Thoroughly enjoy the amount of historical information about Yellowknife, mining, the Yellowknives Dene, current wildlife and prehistoric wildlife, RCMP in the north. I especially enjoy the Discovery Gallery (I may have that name wrong) where kids can play in a McPherson tent, log cabin, or tipi, and dress up as animals and play with stuffed animals.

Great museum! It's very informative of the NWT history and wildlife education. It took us an hour to walk through the whole museum. Great place to spend time here during the day!
